#30DayBlogChallenge - Day 10 - BEST Trip Of Your Life

Day 10: BEST Trip Of Your Life

As most folks know, I'v been on A LOT of trips! But, for BEST, I have to say there is a tie!

The most life changing vacation had to be my trip to Vegas in 2005, when I married one of the most exceptional women I've ever met! My wife and I enjoyed a weekend full of fun and friendship, accompanied by several friends and family that made the experience even nicer! The cap for me, of course, was the beautiful wedding and knowing I was taking my beautiful bride home with me!
Our Wedding
Probably ONE of our funnest trips we've ever taken has to be the year (2012) we took most of our children to Disney! We had my 3 younger kids, that are still home, our 2nd oldest, our oldest and her family, and even a family friend! We had a great time bonding and connecting with the kids, all while enjoying one of our biggest family vacations ever! Nothing beats spending time and growing in love with your family! And doing it while enjoying a life-long experience, makes it even more enjoyable!

#30DayBlogChallenge - Day 8 – What Makes You Smile?

My Extended Family

Day 8: What Makes You Smile?
For more info on the 30 Day Blog challenge, click here.

If anyone knows me, they know I talk about my family… A LOT! My family (immediate, extended and extras) is my life! My wife, my kids, my grandkids, my sisters, my wife’s sisters, my cousins, my aunts/uncles, my bros, my peeps, my “big-little whatever”, all mean the world to me!!!

If nothing else, I am most happiest when I’m hanging with, talking to, or just knowing how their day is going! Knowing they’re happy, makes me happy! And that makes me Smile!

What makes you smile!?

WHAT STYLEZ THINKS ABOUT => "Bad" Kids and their education! Is it time for a change?

Suspension_report-1

A Facebook (and real life) friend posted a topic recently about types of suspensions given out to kids when they are "being bad" or violating rules, etc. She jokingly related:

If I were in school, I would be elated to be suspended! Don't have to get up early or do in class assignments! Heck! Why not try to get suspended to have a legimate reason not to go to school???!!! LOL

But she has a point here, what is going through the mind of a kid when they're suspended!? What can schools do to curb or deter that WANT to be suspended attitude? Is there time for a change? This Is What STYLEZ Thinks!

My kids' school does both "no school" and "in shool"... they call it In-House strangely enough... style suspensions. It depends on the offense and number times the kid has violated certain offenses. But I do think the In-School suspension probably discourages the kids from thinking they are going to get away with chillin at the crib! But it still sucks because they don't do any work and they continue to fail their classes, so I don't think it's as effective as the teachers think. I think they should make it like a learning bootcamp. You go to In-School Suspension, you're away from your friends (or most of them, since I'm sure "that" crowd probably runs together) and then force them to do EXTRA work, projects, homework, etc! Now THAT would teach them!

I have a few kids at home that love school and In-School and Out-of-School suspensions would hurt them to their hearts. But I know, a couple of my kids and SO MANY kids at their school seemed to live for those "free days"! SMDH! I hated it and complained but it fell on deaf ears. So many administrators are still under that archaic notion that you need to remove the "bad element" to save the good. But they don't realize if you keep tellin a kid they're bad... then what do you think they're going to be!?

Not to say I don't agree in some instances... because I know I don't want drug dealers and gang members around my kids when they're supposed to be learning. But dang, you can't deny and deprive these kids of education, then they will just reville in their own stupdiity and continue down the same dead-end path they're own with no repurcussions in sight, until it's too late! I have tried to talk to my couple of wayward kids, and provide a good example of hard work! But hey, I'm just the parent, who they think "isn't cool like the entertainers/their friends/etc"! So it was a battle to keep them on the straight and narrow! But I feel so strongly about education that I don't any kid needs to be completely devoided of that chance to learn! That's Bad!

So, that is what Stylez thinks! What do you think!?

WHAT WILLIE STYLEZ THINKS ABOUT => "What Comes First?" via Ms. Nikks

Do you think your spouse should come before your children or your children should come before your spouse? Do you think they can share the spot and everyone can come out on top?

The above question was posed, along with the list a Christian (or church) marriage counselor gave as a list of people who hold importance in your life:
1. God
2. Spouse
3. Kids
4. Everything else...

Well, you know Willie Stylez had to answer the question!

Another blogger, TheDLife, stated a GREAT case for why they would put GOD and then THEMSELVES first! I loved TheDLife's response very much, so I would have to say my list goes as follows:

1. GOD
2. ME
3. Wife
4. Kids
5. Ext Family/Close Friends
6. Everything Else

I commented that why I chose #2 to be me is:

"The fact that we forget ourselves in the equation is POWERFUL! I have told people, time and again, that they must be happy and fulfilled by themselves before they can make someone else happy in a relationship with them!" I have to be right with myself, and have improved (and continue to improve) myself before I can be of any worth to my wife, kids, etc.

I put my wife above my kids only because, in front of GOD, I declared an everlasting love and commitment to my wife! I also declared, by default and following HIS guidance, that I would:

"Train up a child in the way he should GO; even when he is old he will not depart from it."

And then

"a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh"

So because I am ONE FLESH with my wife, and I feel that my children will learn from my teaching and go out and become one flesh with their own spouses, then I have done my job for them! I am not saying I will stop loving and assisting them, but I have to let them go and let them lead their own lives!

We get so caught up in that VERY SHORT 18-years we have a child with us, that we forget the LIFETIME we're supposed to spend with our spouse. It's true, marriage is not guaranteed (especially in these horrible times) BUT if you truly work at making the marriage and family successful, then it can be! It's sad that many marriages end because of that "stranger-danger" (the problem of spouses becoming "strangers" because they spend so much time taking care of kids/career/etc and forget to take care & continue to know their spouse)! But it's avoidable if you put the work into sharing the family workload, as well as share in the work of being ONE FLESH!

My wife and I make it a point to talk about our day, our lives, our fears/goals/dreams, we go out on dates (together, of course, LOL) and take a (no kids) vacation each year, among other things. That way we can connect and re-connect on a regular basis. All the while, as we raise our family!

That's what Stylez thinks! What do you think?

WHAT STYLEZ THINKS ABOUT => A day with My Family

It's been a very interesting day at the Stylez Home! Just thought I'd share with you all some highlights!

Things I WISH I could SCREAM at people in my house (but of course, I wouldn't!):

  • You REALLY need it? Well you're grown, have a car and money... GO GET IT!
  • WHY THE HELL do you think its OK to lay around MY HOUSE all day, not doing anything, then have the AUDACITY to ask ME to give YOU money? RIGHT!
  • When are you going to realize that living like a filthy rodent ... is SO NOT COOL! Go clean your room!
  • How many times do I have to tell you... EVERYTHING? SMDH!
  • Uh, yea, I can come get you... NOW... uh, NO! ... WhatTF do you mean you're mad? You JUST called me, I'm 35 minutes away and I'm doing SOMETHING OTHER THAN THINKING ABOUT YO ASS!
  • What The HELL! Why did you just do that??? So are you STUPID or SLOW?
  • If you THINK you gonna slam that one more time, Ima smack the crap outta you!
  • YES, Im coming right now to fulfill your EVERY fantasy and desire! [ok this one would be cool to say to my wife ... *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* Honey! :) ] LOL!
My mom is like ALWAYS late! She was supposed to pickup the babies and take them to the Apple Orchard at 9AM. Then 11AM... then 12:30pm ... they left at 2PM! LOL! ... and my wife wonders where I get it from! SMH! LOL!
One thing that Kids and Sexy Women have in common: They can make you do crazy, stupid things you don't normally do, like drive far as hell in the middle of the night to pick them up, KNOWING you should be in the bed sleep! SMDH! I had no plan on going to Detroit tonight... where am I going? ... DETROIT! SMDH! OH & to pick up Kids, NOT sexy women, in case you're wondering! SMH!

That's LIFE w/ Stylez!
