#30DayBlogChallenge - Day 2 - Significance of Your Name #WhatsInaName

Day 2: What Is The Significance Of Your Name?
For more info on the 30 Day Blog challenge, click here.

So I've spent a few hours trying to decide how to approach Day 2's subject. As MANY of you know, my name on this Blog, and most other places is Willie Stylez! If you go to my Twitter you see a "full name"... William F. Stylenzski! When I talk to my kids about "Who Willie Stylez is", I always claim his name is:

William F. Stylenzski, III, Esquire
AKA
Willie Stylez
AKA
STYLEZ
AKA
Big Little Whatever

Well, because this is the Willie Stylez Blog, I will stick with What's In WILLIE STYLEZ's Name!!! HA! And y'all thought I was about to reveal my Government name! #NoComment

So Willie Stylez has been my pseudonym since 1994 when I started writing and doing music. It was a cool name, and got me thinking about my brand, my image as an entertainer and separating me from the day-to-day businessman I was, in real life! I have continued to use this name, in brand and persona, ever since!

When Twitter came about they wanted a full name for the profile, and I initially used the Willie Stylez name. Later on, while trying to garner 5000 followers in a friendly competition I was involved in, I decided to step up the stakes. I promised my followers I would CHANGE when I reached 5000 followers, it was the least I could do to prove there was a "Prize for all these followers"!!! And at 5000, I officially MORPHED...into the Black Power Ranger!!! LMBO! YES, I spent close to a year being the Black Power Ranger on Twitter! #GoodTimes

But shortly thereafter, I decided I needed to change again and gave up my PowerZord! But then I needed an "identity"! So I asked around and #OOMF (one of my followers) suggested to just be myself. No nickname, just fully, who I was...as Willie Stylez though...all grown up! Then it hit me...what would Willie Stylez be a nickname for!? William was obvious for Willie! But then I remembered most people who came from other countries changed their last names to "fit in"! So I had to figure out where STYLEZ "came from"! And that's when I came up with William F. Stylenzski, III, Esq.! Sounds very astute doesn't it! And Polish...but whatever! LOL!

So what does the F stand for...

And NOW you know! LOL!

Can I Get a Witness? | Goddess Intellect {What is YOUR purpose?}

Willie Stylez said:

Amen, Amen, AMEN! :) I have to say that being religious and having faith, as you put it, are definitely two different things and KNOWING FAITH is a TRUE blessing! Being religious comes with the “nonsense”, comes with the obligations, comes with the fellowship, comes with the teachings and all the other things that keep us from or make us go to church/synagogue/mass/meetings etc! I am definitely a person with a lot of FAITH but not very religious. Let’s just say I have had my fair share of “religion” and just choose to cherish and develop my relationship with GOD and keep it moving. I attend Sunday Services as much as time permits, but I have my skepticms and doubts about specific doctrine/dogma/whatever. But I go to ensure my children learn what religion is, and start developing their own relationship with GOD. I think we all need that. As well, as like you ladies said, we sometimes just need that fellowship, or that music, or a good preacher to just make us feel whole again. Whatever anybody’s stance is, you definitely have to get to know your purpose. I have found many “purposes” for my life. As father, I am purposed to make 6 lives greater than they could be without any help. I am here to be a teacher, mentor and motivator to them. As a businessman, I am purposed to bring great service and peach of mind to my customers. So that they may be more productive in their lives. As a husband, I am purposed to develop a lasting and loving relationship with my wife. And give her all the things she deserves, as well as try to spoil her whenever possible. And as Black Man in the USA, I am purposed to provide a positive and productive example of our culture and its ability to output more than just criminals and/or deadbeats. So I have many purposes (maybe even more than the ones I have named) but I know that all together those purposes define who I am, how I live my life and what I can look forward to in my future!

I was reading a post over at Goddess Intellect's blog (http://goddessintellect.com) and felt inclined to respond. She described her religious and spiritual experiences and then proceded to ask some very poignant questions. The quote above is my response to her final question, What is YOUR purpose in life! Now that you know what I see as my purpose, why don't you tell me what YOUR purpose is! All responses welcome.

Kwanzaa... Do we celebrate because of the PRINCIPLES? Or the CREATOR of it?

While surfing this morning, I came across this status, and felt compelled to comment! What do YOU think?

Some people are celebrating Kwanzaa & have no idea what they're really talking about. Instead of exchanging gifts and lighting that candle, you need to Google Maluana Karenga, the "originator" of Kwanzaa. In 1971, Karenga imprisoned, assaulted, and tortured 2 women for 2 days. It's imperative that you know who your heroes are - it's even more important that you know who they are not.

What does STYLEZ think?

I really FEEL the author's point, HOWEVER, I would have to disagree w/ the underlying message here. I think that ALL men (and women) have their flaws, shortcomings, secrets, talents and gifts! If we want to GO THERE, please remember that our "FAVORITE Black History Hero", Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was also a womanizer, beligerent and some of his kids felt he was not as great a father as he was a civil rights leader. Do we stop the Civil Rights Movement, or stop supporting the NAACP (who've also seen MANY of its leaders and associates dipped in scandal), or do we continue the "Good Fight" despite the shortcomings of the people who stain their own reputations?

I mean, turn it around, what if you believe that Halloween is a celebration of Satan and all that is evil! Does that mean, you will allow your Pastor or your Church to celebrate it, and convince you to celebrate JUST because they are "good people"!?!? That would of course be detrimental to your morals, RIGHT!?!?

I think the important thing to remember is if you agree with the principles of the celebration, and those principles aren't detrimental to your morals or views, then it should be just fine to involve yourself. Too many people get caught up in worshipping the MEN behind the cause, instead of UNDERSTANDING and sticking to the CAUSE! That's why the cause will then get stained when the MEN stain themselves! But if we keep sight of the CAUSE and the cause only, we can get pass the indiscretions of the men, and continue to FIGHT THAT GOOD FIGHT, Focused & Ready!

Thats What STYLEZ Thinks, What Do You Think?

The Twit-Book Hiatus! A Seven-Day Adventure!

As many of my Twit-Bookers know, on Friday, May 22, 2009 @ 7AM EST, I posted my 200th Tweet! It was an accomplishment that I felt merited a bit of notice! Especially since my first posting had only occurred roughly 2 months prior, I had developed a new phenomena (for which we know and love as Twit-Booking) and people all over were FLOCK-ing to follow Stylez! ;)

First, I requested my Twitter and Facebook friends to come up with some ideas as to what I should do for Twit-Book update #200! Well, being the visionary that I am, I decided to come up with my own plan. It involved the fact that I was going to try to come up with a profound, yet random update that could embody the boldness and effectiveness that I have become known to represent! I felt like my friends and family deserved to see a posting that would make them laugh, wonder, contemplate and maybe even cry, all in one posting!

Then I remembered... there is only 140 characters in a Twit-Booking! LOL! Well, that made my head hurt. Then I was challenged to take a 7 day hiatus from the whole thing! THEN on a side note, I was challenged to REALLY quit smoking cigars... REALLY REALLY this time! ;) Well, there I was, 3 challenges, one momentus occasion, 140 characters!!! Was I up to it?

Well, being STYLEZ means a lot to me, and I feel like it represents more than just a nickname, more than just a monicher, more than just something to say! It represents what I am, what I do, who I can be, and where I am going! It is a lifestyle, it is a frame-of-mind, it is a pinnacle for which I try to reach and keeping reaching for day-in and day-out! And it just keeps making me that much better! Therefore, these challenges had to be tried; shoot, had to be conquered! I Willie Stylez was going to conquor them!

So I set out to find something meaningful, and appropriate to the adventure I was about to embark upon! And as you can see by this posting on Facebook, I think I did just that! An ending to a new beginning, and I was ready to make it happen!!!

To Be Continued...
