I swear I was just talking about this movie recently, and my love of it! It may have been because of the recent, and sad, story. The inmate that inspired the tale, Frank Freshwaters, is being sent BACK to prison after all these decades, "on the lam"! The man is almost 80 years old, in bad health and just living out his days in Melbourne Florida! SMH! Anyway!

So back to the subject at hand, My Favorite Movie!

Well, my favorite (as you can tell by the title image) is the critically acclaimed, 1994 film, starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins, and directed by Frank Darabont:

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION

The Shawshank Redemption is a gritty, emotional and jarring tale of law, punishment and friendship! It inspires with it's hard look at life behind bars, but shows that perseverance, purpose and hope, are what's most important in life! The film originally flopped, but after rave reviews and 7 Oscar nominations, it was a Home Video HIT, cult classic and one the greatest films, ever made!

So What Does STYLEZ Think?

OMG! This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen... no really! I mean, yes, in the 90's when video games started including video snippets and full motion video interludes, it was all the rage! Now a filmmaker by the name of Mathieu Weschler has taken that concept to the next level! Not merely a strung together series of screen captures, this is truly a well plotted, well directed, choreographed dance of action, violence and pathos! And visuals are NOTHING MORE than scenes from Grand Theft Auto IV! I truly believe this film could win awards for its creativity, acting and music score! {UPDATE: The Trashmaster just won the Jury Prize of the Festival of Atopic Paris! ... SEE, told you!} I was intrigued by another reviewer (at tuvez.com) who said the opening sequence was the most exciting/thrilling one since Chris Nolan's 2008 masterpiece, The Dark Knight! Now if that doesn't scream WATCH ME... I don't know what does! So check it out, The Trashmaster by Mathieu Weschler! A grand, cinematic, masterpiece in itself! Well done Mr. Weschler, WELL DONE!

‎2012 was a pretty good movie with AWESOME special effects, a great storyline and an unbelievable cast. This movie really kept you at the edge of your seat and made you think! I could really see them also releasing a very well put-together sequel with very strong religious, socio-political and psychological themes! Make sure you check out "2012" on BlueRay/DVD or on cable! It will be a WILD RIDE!

WILLIE STYLEZ MOVIE REVIEW - "Miss March" -- Fast Pace Comedy but is it HIT or MISS?

After four years in a coma, Eugene Pratt is going to be reunited with his High School Sweetheart... On pages 95-97!

SO WHAT DOES STYLEZ THINK?

I really enjoyed watching Miss March, a fast paced comedy with loads of laughs and low brow antics galore! My favorites would have to be Craig Robinson (playing Horsed*ck.MPEG) and Trevor Moore (playing Tucker Cleigh)! The movie is DEFINITELY fantasy and a lot of the antics are so staged you sometimes see them coming! But its a fun movie by a young team of writers (who also star in the film) and introduces a new generation to the iconic magazine! I definitely recommend you see "Miss March" as soon as possible!

3.5 out of 5 STARS!

"Get Him to the Greek" - HILARIOUS & AWESOME MOVIE! Make sure you check it out!

I saw Get Him To The Greek this evening at a local theater. My wife won tickets and so we went to check it out! Surprisingly, it was a lot funnier than I expected. Doesn't quite match the wittiness and fast pace of Hangover, but it was kinda built similar! I would definitely recommend everyone check out this movie. I usually love comedies like this, but some people in the audience with me was loving it even more than I was. I even thought P. Diddy was running the city in this flick! LOL! Check out "Get Him to the Greek" and let me know what you think!

Are kid movies going TOO far?

As always, I was going through Facebook updates and came across a good topic. So of course, I had to make it a blog post! Today’s topic is about Movies and how they seem to be getting out of hand when it comes to the Kid & Family Genre! My FB Friend said:

“wondering why all these new children’s movies are so scary? i.e. Coraline, A Christmas Carol, Princess and the Frog, Alice in Wonderland...etc...they are scaring my kids half to death! what's the deal?”

So, What Does STYLEZ Think?

See thats the problem, these movies ARE NOT for kids... they are for ADULTS! ESPECIALLY Christmas Carol, Coraline & Alice in Wonderland! (I haven’t seen the Princess & Frog movie, but I didn’t think it looked scary... but I wont judge! LOL!) But one thing we have to remember is we can't let the titles, or "intended" themes, or the big name stars, or the movie studio name, make us blindly allow our children to take in these negative images and adult themes! Just because a movie says Disney & has a MPAA rating doesn't make it OK for our children! And just like some kids were scared of some things in Princess, it didn't affect other kids. That doesn't make those kids "less tough", it just means that the movie was not intended for THEM! I am starting to be more cautious of the themes and movies coming out, because the studios are trying to make money, not look out for the best interest of our youth!

One other thing to remember is not to let the "Kid Pressure" get to you! Just because a movie has kids in it, or is animated, most kids are jumping to see it! Shoot, that's why I've taught my babies that if they see it on a commercial, then we CAN'T get it! LOL! I’m serious! I've said it so much that now before they ask for something, they will say, "daddy, we didn't see this on TV but"! LOL! But like I said, you definitely have to pre-screen these movies. And sometimes you can just look out for the tell-tale signs. Like most of the movies mentioned earlier were all Tim Burton movies! Those are definitely not little kid friendly. I also noticed that all the Dreamworks animated movies are full of adult themes! So lately my kids’ TV is stuck on nothing but Nick Jr and Sprout because the rest of it is too over the top!
