Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” Video Released!!
Thanks to our Atlantic representative’s call (at 8:00 am!!!!), we have been the first Detroit site to gain access to Jay-Z’s new video “Empire State of Mind“. You’ve seen it here first…what do you think Detroit???
So what does Stylez Think?
Well, afte watching this video, I find myself totally disappointed in the effort put forth by the director and record label. I mean, the MTV VMA's performance of this song was a WAY better "video" then this was. From Jay-Z's lackluster emotion in his performance of the lyrics, to Alicia's stooped over, hunch-back dancing throughout! It was almost painful to watch this video just progress from one unimpressive, unemotional picture of NYC life to another. I mean, if nothing else, I felt that the picture collage could have been more awe-inspiring. It may have helped if they showed the pics for longer than 0.25 seconds!!! And the lack of any real symbolance shown when Jay discussed or mentioned landmarks, or important times or aspects of the "City That Never Sleeps" also made this video unbearable. So many expectations, so much dissapointment. I love Jay-Z, his music and his style, so I'm willing to grant him a do-over!!!
